With Privy A/B testing, it is possible to create multiple versions of one campaign. Each version that you create can sync emails to different lists within the same email service provider, or different email service providers altogether.
Jim creates a campaign in Privy. He then decides to A/B test it. He has his original version (A), and creates a variation of the same campaign (B). He decides that he wants his original version to sync with his customer list within MailChimp. For his second variation of the campaign, he decides that he wants to sync customers over to the newsletter list in his MailChimp account.
Jim isn’t limited to only using MailChimp with his A/B test. If he decides that for his original version (A), he wants to sync to Constant Contact instead of MailChimp, he can do that. The variant (B) that he created can still sync over to MailChimp.
To access this feature click on the A/B test tab located at the top of your Privy account screen:
Then, select the “New Experiment” button located on the right portion of the screen:
You will be prompted to enter a name for your experiment. The experiment will need to be associated to a campaign in your account:
After making your desired selections, click on the blue “Create Experiment” button:
On the resulting screen, select the option to “Add variation” :
Name your variation if desired and select the “Create variation” button:
After naming and creating your variation you will be brought to the design area for that specific variation:
Click on the “Automation” tab:
On the resulting page, you can select the option to add a new rule:
If you have linked email service provider accounts in Privy they will appear under the “Sync To List” option:
Select the email service provider of your choice and include all appropriate settings for that email service provider:
Then, click save:
The Automation rule for that one variation of your A/B test is now all set:
You can repeat this process for every variation that exists as part of your A/B test. To access the Automation rules for each variation click on the “A/B Tests” tab at the top of your account screen:
Then, click into the experiment that you’re running:
From within the experiment, select the option to edit your variation:
You will then be able to access the Automation tab from within the settings for that particular variation:
Continue to add Automation rules as desired.
Note: At the end of the experiment, you have the option to merge the winning variation into the original campaign. Merging the winning variation does not merge automation rules.
