First, you are going to setup your campaign in Privy. You will want to select a Campaign Style that has space for multiple form fields. When you select the "+ New Campaign" button, you will then be able to add your phone form field.
At the very least, you will be required to keep the "Email" field (which will not be passed over to Attentive), and will also want to add a "Phone Field" customer attribute form to collect a phone number. When the Phone field is added, there will also be an opt-in checkbox added to confirm submission. For compliance reasons, keep the text opt-in check box on your form. This field works for phone numbers in the United States and Canada.
Next, you will want to add consenting language that is directly applicable to SMS messaging. Below is example wording of what some customers use, where the Terms of Service links to the Terms of Service page of your website.
"*I agree to receive recurring automated text messages at the phone number provided. Consent is not a condition to purchase. Msg & data rates may apply. Click to view our Terms of Service."
You can replace the default consenting language provided in Privy campaign designer with the above or whatever is advised for your subscribers to opt into receiving your SMS messages after collecting their phone numbers.
Once you have your Privy onsite campaign setup and ready to collect the necessary information, you will need to setup the connection between Attentive and Privy. You will need to navigate to your Business Settings and then go to the Linked Accounts section.
Once there, find the Attentive icon and select.
You will then need to enter in the email address associated with your Attentive account, and request an API Token from your Attentive client strategist in order to make the connection between your accounts.
Finally, for your onsite campaign that you are collecting the phone number field, you will want to add an Automation Rule telling Privy to pass the phone data to Attentive.
Now your campaign should be set up correctly to pass the phone number from your Privy onsite campaign to your Attentive account to sent SMS messages when someone subscribes to your Privy campaign. You can test this by submitting the Privy form on your website, filling out your phone number where you have set up an automation rule for your campaign to sync you to a specific keyword automated flow for SMS in Attentive . You will then receive a SMS confirmation from Attentive to your phone!
