An update to your Privy/Klaviyo Integration
As of September 27, 2018, the Privy/Klaviyo integration has changed. Most customers will not need to take any action steps, but please read on to be sure.
Any new contacts signing up on a Privy form will receive an opt-in confirmation email from Klaviyo. This double opt-in subscription process via Klaviyo will happen by default unless those lists are specified as single opt-in within Klaviyo.
Privy customers will no longer have the option to override the opt-in settings of their Klaviyo lists from within Privy:
What do you need to do?
Most customers will not need to make any changes. For existing Privy campaigns, there are three possible scenarios:
- If you have an email sync set up as single-opt-in within Privy, but the list is not designated as single opt-in within Klaviyo, you’ll need to make that change within Klaviyo itself to keep the campaign as single opt-in.
- If you have an email sync set up as single-opt-in within Privy and the list is already designated as single opt-in within Klaviyo, no action is required.
- If you want double opt-in enabled for your lists, no action is required.
If you wish to enable single opt-in list subscription on one or more of your Klaviyo lists, please contact Klaviyo’s customer success team.
Why are we making this change?
Klaviyo has updated their API to prevent accidental single-opt-in requests on double opt-in email lists. We are aligning changes in Privy to coincide with Klaviyo’s update. This ensures that customers don’t receive emails that they have not explicitly opted into.
What will the experience be like for my contacts?
New contacts who sign up for a Privy campaign will trigger a ‘subscribe’ event in Klaviyo, which will then send an opt-in confirmation email to your contact.
