The Privy integration with Facebook Custom Audiences allows you to put your contact segments to work in your ad campaigns, including: Retarget existing contacts with Facebook ads based on their engagement or purchase history Build lookalike audiences from your highest-value Privy segments Keep your Facebook Custom Audiences automatically in sync as your Privy segments update

Before you start

Make sure you have:
  • A Facebook Ad Account with admin permission that is connected to a Facebook Business
  • Accepted the Facebook Custom Audiences Terms of Service in your Ad Account
  • At least one Privy segment ready in Contacts > Segments

Setting up the integration

To connect Privy to Facebook:
  • Navigate to the Integrations Hub page.
  • Locate the Facebook integration and click Connect, to confirm your decision. You will be directed to Facebook to log into your Facebook account.
  1. Log into Facebook and authorize Privy to access your Facebook Businesses.
Once authorized, Privy can access your Facebook Ad Accounts and Custom Audiences.

Sync a segment to a Custom Audience

To map a Privy segment to a Facebook Custom Audience:
  1. Navigate to Contacts > Segments from your dashboard.
  2. Click the menu on the segment you want to sync and select Sync to FB Custom Audiences.
  3. Choose your Facebook Business account from the dropdown.
  4. Choose the Facebook Ads account where the audience lives.
  5. Choose an existing Custom Audience to sync to, or select Create new audience to create one directly from Privy.
  6. Choose which contacts to sync — select Subscribed, Unsubscribed, Non-subscribed, or any combination to sync a subset of the segment, or select all three to sync everyone in it.
  7. Save your settings.
Privy will sync the contacts in that segment to your selected Facebook Custom Audience. Syncs run automatically every 24 hours, so your Custom Audience stays up to date as your segment changes. The configuration is saved to the segment, so you can return to review or update it at any time.

Manage an existing sync

To review, update, or stop an existing sync:
  1. Navigate to Contacts > Segments from your dashboard.
  2. Click the menu on the segment with an active sync and select Sync to FB Custom Audiences. From here, you can:
  • Change the mapped Facebook Business account, ad account, and Custom Audience, then click Save Changes to apply your updates
  • Disconnect the audience sync by clicking the Stop Syncing button
