Overview
Privy can integrate with many popular email service providers including MailChimp. This document provides details as to the emails that can be sent with either Privy or MailChimp
For our purposes we will be breaking down emails into two broad categories: Emails that are sent immediately and emails that are sent later or on a particular schedule.
Important: Some Mailchimp Settings are controlled from directly within Privy.
Emails that are sent immediately can be sent using either the Privy Autoresponder or the MailChimp welcome email.
Emails that are sent later can be sent using the Privy Automate feature or the MailChimp Automation series.
To Recap:
Emails Sent Immediately:
- Privy Autoresponder
If Double Opt-in is enabled in Privy:
If double opt-in is not enabled, or after the user confirms:
- MailChimp final welcome email (if enabled in Privy)
- MailChimp automation series (if enabled in MailChimp)
Email Sent Later:
- MailChimp automation series (if enabled in MailChimp)
Which type of email you use will depend on your objectives. That being said, let’s go over some MailChimp-specific specific details.
Mailchimp Double Opt-in
Mailchimp takes advantage of a two-step verification process known as Double Opt-In. Sound like fancy internet jargon? Let’s take the edge off: All this means is that when someone first signs up for your MailChimp newsletter, they won’t be added to the email list you’ve selected until they receive a second email after signing up. The second email will prompt your customer to confirm that they want to be on your mailing list. Once they complete this step they will officially be added to your email newsletter list. It is worth mentioning that it is possible to control this behavior in MailChimp within the settings from Privy.
Changing MailChimp Double Opt-in and Final Welcome Email Settings in Privy
Before modifying these settings you must first have completed the Email Sync Setup in your Privy account.
Go into the edit mode for your campaign and navigate to the option labeled “Form”
Click on the last option labeled Email sync and you will have the option to modify the double opt-in and MailChimp welcome email settings.
